Chest Liposuction in Charleston, SC

For many males, the chest is a source of insecurity when it stores excess fat. Male breast reduction, or chest reduction, utilizes minimally invasive liposuction to afford individuals a more masculine, toned appearance to the chest area. If you live in Mt. Pleasant, Charleston, Summerville, or any of the surrounding South Carolina communities, Heidi Williams, M.D., is a board-certified, ASPS Plastic Surgeon, who specializes in chest contouring, and in helping her patients achieve their overall body and chest contouring goals.

Why is the Chest a Problem Area?

The chest is a problem area for most males whose chests store excess fat. Because breasts are a female body part, men can tend to feel they are sacrificing masculinity by carrying excessive fat in their chest region. Sometimes referred to as “man boobs” or male breasts, excess fat in the chest is a source of insecurity for many men of all ages and is treatable quickly and safely using VASER® liposuction.

Men who suffer from gynecomastia, or male breasts, can try to mask the shape of their torso in oversized clothing, layers of clothing, or thick sweatshirts. Additionally, having excess fat in the chest can be a source of social embarrassment, poor self-esteem, and anxiety. It is common to try and treat excess chest fat by natural methods such as diet and exercise, but sometimes it is not enough. Liposuction is a safe, effective way 55to permanently get rid of excess fat in the chest for men.

How Does Male Chest Liposuction Work?

Before the male chest liposuction procedure, the Dr. Williams will consult with you to establish and understand your personal goals for the procedure. In the procedure itself, a small incision will be made (this can often be done in the underarms, so it is completely discreet) on each side of the chest, and a tiny tubule is inserted beneath the skin through those incisions. The tubule is moved around gently and precisely to suction the excess fat out from the chest region. Following the fat removal, the incision is closed, and the healing process can begin. While results are somewhat visible immediately, full results are appreciated in just a few short weeks after the procedure.
